NBN, Wi-Fi & Internet Help
Dead spots, dropouts and the speed you're actually paying for.

Smart home gear is sold as plug-and-play and behaves like a small network administration problem. Each device wants the 2.4GHz band, a cloud account, a firmware update and a phone app, and any one of them failing quietly means the doorbell stops recording.
I set these up as a system: named sensibly, grouped the way you think about your house, on a separate network from your laptops and banking, and with the failure modes explained so you know what to do when the power flickers.

Usually band steering or coverage. Most cheap devices only speak 2.4GHz, and many routers push everything onto 5GHz or hand devices between bands mid-connection. Splitting the bands or putting device traffic on its own network fixes the majority of these.
Yes, and it costs nothing to do. Cheap cameras and plugs get security updates for a couple of years at best. Keeping them on their own network means a compromised doorbell cannot see the laptop you do your banking on.
Any of them, and I will tell you honestly when mixing ecosystems is going to cause you ongoing grief. Sometimes the right advice is to standardise on one platform before buying anything else.
