Business IT & systems

IT consulting for Adelaide small business

The most expensive technology decisions are usually made in a hurry, on the recommendation of whoever happened to be selling at the time. A quote for a new system is not the same as an answer to whether you need one.

I do not resell hardware or take vendor commissions, so there is nothing sitting behind my advice. Sometimes the conclusion is that you should spend money. Often it is that you already have what you need and it is configured badly.

What this covers

  • Technology reviews and upgrade roadmaps
  • Vendor and software selection advice
  • Backup, continuity and security health checks

Sound familiar?

These are the ones I get called about most. If yours is not listed, it is still worth asking.

  • A big quote you have no way to sanity-check
  • Deciding between two or three software platforms
  • Costs creeping up across subscriptions nobody audits
  • A setup that has grown by accident over several years
  • Backups that exist but have never been tested
  • Planning a move, a fit-out or a period of growth
  • Wanting a second opinion before you commit

IT Consultations — common questions

Do you sell the hardware or software you recommend?

No, and that is deliberate. I have no reseller margin or vendor commission riding on the answer, which means I can tell you to buy nothing, or to buy from somebody else, without it costing me anything.

What do I get at the end of it?

Something written down that you can act on without me — what I found, what I would do first, what can wait, and roughly what each part costs. It should be useful even if you never call me again.

Can you review a quote from another provider?

Yes, and it is a common request. I will tell you which parts are reasonable, which are overspecified, and which are missing — and if the quote is genuinely good, I will say that too.
